The differential is working to transfer power from the transmission to the drive shafts each time you are driving the car. If you are not getting this part serviced often, fluids could be compromised and causing serious damage inside.
One of the issues with the differential is the heat from the gears burns away the fluids, leaving the gears exposed. Once grinding starts, the damage could get severe very quickly. Any noises are not good and should be addressed immediately.
The differential also has to control the gears each time the steering is used. This added work could reduce the consistency of the gear oil, which in turn makes the gears work harder as they get heated. Burning smells from the underside of the car need to be addressed too.
At the first sign of trouble with the differential, bring your vehicle to our service center at Lincoln of Wayne so we can inspect the system and replace fluids if needed.
