The Inspection Process
When the AIM inspector gets started, you can expect
the process to take about 30 minutes. You are welcome to observe the AIM
inspection process.
The inspection will begin by confirming the
vehicle's VIN and by starting the engine to check the vehicle's mileage and the
working order of any and all accessories. The inspector will then review the
interior to check for any damages, confirm the presence of the spare tire and
jack (if equipped), check the condition of the engine parts and oil, analyze
the exterior for excess wear and use, and check the condition and tread depth
of the tires.
In addition to all of this, the AIM inspector will
take about 20 required pictures, including any additional pictures to record
any chargeable wear and use. After the inspection, the AIM inspector will
review the inspection with you and answer any questions you may have about the
results. You will also receive a copy of the AIM inspection report, a Wear and
Use Notice, and an Options to Make Repairs Notice.
