The history of Wayne Motors and Lincoln of Wayne starts with the founder Gaspar Spina. After coming home from the Marine Corp in 1948, a young Gaspar went to work in his family's bakery, the Victory Pastry Shop in Hell's Kitchen NYC.

Gaspar and his father eventually opened C Spina & Son Bakery in the very same neighborhood in 1951. He worked there until he made a change that would shift the direction for the Spina family for generations to come.

In December 1954 Gaspar made the difficult decision to leave the family bakery to begin a career in the automotive industry. As the story goes, there were two job listings in the paper - one to sell Mercury, and one to sell Pontiac. Having owned both, he undoubtedly favored the Mercury and the decision to sell cars at Russel Lowell Lincoln Mercury in Queens NY came naturally.

Throughout the 50's Gaspar's career in sales continued to grow with the Lowell Family at Lowell Barry in Miami and Lowell Barry in Palm Beach. It wasn't until 1958 that he returned home to work at Koppel Motors in Queens NY, where Gaspar would meet his future partners and enter into the next chapter of his life in the automotive industry.

In 1962 Gaspar and his partners invested in what was then known as Turner Lincoln Mercury and re-opened it as Paterson Lincoln Mercury.

In November of that very same year Wayne Motors was created with the intention to eventually move their dealership to their current location in Wayne NJ. In 1968 as business continued to grow, the dealership was then moved to Wayne where Wayne Lincoln Mercury was born - one of the very first dealerships on Route 23.  Later Gaspar bought out his partners and continued to grow the dealership further on his own. He supported the brand by serving on the Lincoln Mercury Dealers Association for 15 years.

One of Gaspar's proudest moments as a business owner was when he was joined by his oldest son, Peter. Peter carried the same passion for the automotive industry since he started working at the dealership from a very young age. After he graduated college in 1973 Peter joined his father full time and eventually took over operations as General Manager in 1976 when the family expanded their business. They branched out and opened Gaspar's Restaurant & Night Club in 1977 which quickly became a premier destination in NJ.

After many great years of working together, the father and son duo decided to concentrate all of their efforts on growing their auto sales. They knocked down "Gaspar's" to make room for a new and improved dealership. Quickly, The Spina's Lincoln Mercury dealership became one of the best in the country and a top volume sales leader. Marketing became Peter's main passion in the industry. His two sons Michael and Peter were involved with one of his most memorable marketing campaigns. Throughout the years they were featured in some of the very first automotive commercials to be aired on Cable TV in the area. This is when the phrase "No Gimmicks, Just Good Deals" was coined, which became their motto and business model.

Peter followed his father's footsteps and was also involved with the LMDA for 30 years and was the Chairman of the LMDA for 8 consecutive years. He established Wayne Lincoln Mercury as one of the leading Lincoln Mercury dealerships in the country. The business continued to grow with a foundation built on fair prices and volume sales. They also became a key part of the community through various charity initiatives.

In 2006, Peter's son, Peter Spina Jr graduated college introducing the third generation to the Spina family business. In light of the Mercury brand closing in 2010, their focus on Lincoln grew even stronger as "Lincoln of Wayne". Peter Spina Jr, now General Manager, and the Lincoln of Wayne team are ushering in a whole new era for the family business.

Currently Lincoln of Wayne is one of the top dealerships in the Nation, for New Lincoln sales and Certified Preowned Lincoln sales and Customer Satisfaction is always priority . Lincoln of Wayne are winners of the prestigious Presidents Award, Partners in Quality, Lincoln Leaders Award, One Ford Elite Award, Top 20 Dealer Award, and the Top Volume CPO Dealer Award.

Years later they continue to support the community that supports them. By forming their very own Non Profit, Unite Right, they have taken their charitable initiatives to the next level. Most recently they have been focusing their efforts to organizations and charities that are more local to their business and their clients.
